MANAGEMENT AND EDITORIAL POLICY

Editorial decisions are based on the quality of submitted manuscripts and the appropriate expert assessment of reviewers, and not on any political, financial or personal influence from the founder or any affiliated societies and organizations.

The Journal regularly audits its editorial and ethical policies with the involvement of independent experts in the field of medical scientific publishing and the new members of the Editorial Board for compliance with the best international standards and practices in developing and maintaining a transparent and ethical process in relation to editors, authors and reviewers.

 

FUNDING

The following sources are involved in the implementation of all business processes aimed at the effective functioning of the journal and the implementation of its independent, transparent and ethical policy:

• Print subscription.

• Paid advertising.

• Sale of commercial reprints.

• Investments and resources of the founders.

Principles of forming the editorial board

The editorial board of the journal "Russian Journal of Geriatric Medicine" is guided by the COPE principles when forming the editorial board/council.

The editor-in-chief is appointed by the journal’s Founder for a term of 3 years with the renewal possibility of this term. The appointment may be terminated early upon personal application of the editor-in-chief or by decision of the founder of the journal.

Potential members of the editorial board can be recommended to the editor-in-chief by current members of the editorial board, reviewers and authors.

Candidates wishing to participate in the work with the journal as a member of the editorial board can send an application to the editor-in-chief.

The possibility of including potential candidates in the editorial board can be considered at regular meetings of the editorial board.

The final decision on the inclusion of a potential candidate in the editorial board is made by the editor-in-chief.

All potential editorial board members must agree to the following conditions:

• All potential editorial board members must be prepared to disclose to the editors of the journal "Russian Journal of Geriatric Medicine" any potential or actual conflicts of interest (e.g., any activity in publishing scientific journals and books, membership in editorial boards/councils of other journals, as well as any conflicts of interest that may arise after their appointment)

• Preference is given to candidates with scientific degrees and English language proficiency

 

Potential duties of an editorial board member

The roles, tasks, scope and area of responsibility for each editorial board member are agreed upon individually and may include the following:

• Reviewing incoming manuscripts according to their profile/level of proficiency in the original language of the manuscript in the absence of external reviewers.

• Selection of reviewers for incoming manuscripts.

• Monitoring the review process of incoming articles.

• Making decisions on the possibility of publishing an article after all rounds of review. Decisions are submitted to the editor-in-chief, who makes the final decision on the possibility of publication.

• Inviting authors to collaborate with the journal.

• Promoting published articles in social networks and industry events.

• Writing editorial articles and comments in the journal and its website.

• Participation in editorial board meetings.

 

A member of the editorial board may be excluded from the editorial board for the following reasons:

• Violation of publication ethics (e.g. concealment of a conflict of interest,  use of  editorial status for personal purposes)

• Failure to fulfill assigned duties during the year  without a valid reason and without the consent of the editor-in-chief

• At his own request.

 

Responsibility of the editor-in-chief

The editor-in-chief of the journal "Russian Journal of Geriatric Medicine":

• personally responsible for making the decision to publish the article

• makes the final decision on publication

• is guided by the policy of the Journal when reviewing the article and making the decision on its publication. May discuss the manuscript and reviewer comments with other editors and reviewers, provided that these discussions are justified and legitimate, and without using the materials discussed for personal gain.

• must evaluate the content of the manuscript  regardless of authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, origin, citizenship, or political preferences

• must ensure confidentiality and not disclose information about the manuscript to third parties (except other journal editors, reviewers, publishers) unless necessary

• is obliged to inform the editorial board of all conflict situations, as well as the identification of critical errors or accusations of violation of publication ethics received by the journal from authors or reviewers in order to take the necessary actions in such cases: making changes, publishing refutations, retracting the article, expressing doubts

• takes part in the investigation of any ethical violations related to manuscripts under consideration, as well as published articles and makes every effort to resolve conflicts as soon as possible

• if necessary, interacts with the author's organization to conduct a more in-depth investigation

 

Publisher's Responsibility

The publisher of "Russian Journal of Geriatric Medicine" is responsible for compliance with all current recommendations  for compliance with ethical and professional standards of scientific materials published in the journal, including, but not limited to the following guidelines:

1. International Committee of Medical Journal Editors ICMJE.

2. COPE Code of Conduct.

3. World Association of Medical Editors WAME Guidelines.

4. European Association of Science Editors EASE Guidelines.

5. Singapore Statement on Research Integrity.

6. Council of Science Editors.

 

The publisher of the journal is obliged to:

• Monitor the updating of current industry standards

• Implement industry standards in the editorial and publishing process in order to improve the ethical component of the journal's work and best editorial practices

• Provide comprehensive legal support to the editorial board of the journal
