Primary research interests:
Olga N. Tkacheva’s recent research interests are devoted to mechanisms and patterns of the heart and blood vessels aging processes and their association with cellular replicative aging, problems of age-related metabolic disorders, prevention and treatment of age-associated diseases and geriatric syndromes.
Under her leadership, some of the first studies in Russia were conducted on the human microbiome and its links to age-associated conditions. The results of these studies made it possible to identify distinct human aging phenotypes and to develop methods for assessing biological age using clinical parameters.
Education and professional background:
Olga N. Tkacheva graduated from the Gorky State Medical Institute named after S.M. Kirov in 1987.
In 2000, she defended her doctoral thesis and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc).
In 2006, she received the academic title of Professor.
From 2011 to 2015, she served as the First Deputy Director for Research and Clinical Affairs at the State Research Center for Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
From 2014 to 2016, she headed the Laboratory of Geriatrics and Age-Associated Diseases within the same institution.
Since 2015, Olga N. Tkacheva has been the Director of an independent structural division — the Russian Clinical and Research Center of Gerontology and the Department of Age-Associated Diseases at the Faculty of Continuing Professional Education of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Olga N. Tkacheva is one of the principal developers of the Ministry of Health’s clinical guidelines and standards for the medical care of elderly patients. She also contributed to the creation of educational programs and authored training courses for geriatricians, including diagnostic and treatment algorithms for geriatric syndromes.
Olga N. Tkacheva is the author of more than 800 published works, including 763 articles in journals indexed in international databases and four patents for inventions.
Olga N. Tkacheva is the author of the first National Handbook of Geriatrics and 22 monographs.
Olga N. Tkacheva is the Chair of Dissertation Council at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, specializing in Gerontology and Geriatrics (Medical Sciences).

Olga N. Tkacheva is the President of the Russian Society of Gerontologists and Geriatricians, a member of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS International Executive Board), the European Society of Cardiology, the Russian Society for the Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases, the Russian Society of Cardiology, the Russian Medical Society for Arterial Hypertension, and the National Medical Society of Preventive Cardiology.
